What’s Premium Return Protection?
Let’s face it. Not even the savviest shopper is safe from the inevitable fashion purchase regret. (Liquid latex harem pants, anyone?) And since we all make mistakes, it’s good to have a back-up plan. That’s why Premium Return Protection from American Express is a stylish shopper’s must-have. It allows online or in-store shoppers – no matter what credit, debit or charge card is used – to shop with confidence knowing that American Express has your back; even if you’ve missed a store’s return policy deadline, you can still get your refund from American Express for up to six months.

Though I have never been one to follow the phrase, “When in Rome do what the Romans do…”, a purchase in my middle school years left me staying true to this cliche while quickly becoming regretful of my purchases. Yes, at one point in time wearing tank tops studded with the word “BEBE” seemed like the cool thing to do. Little did I know, the trend was nonexistent and nothing but the attempt of 13 year olds trying to dress far beyond their years. I soon learned of the beauty in simplicity and have yet to purchase tacky since.
My biggest purchase regret was the television we have in our Family Room. It must weigh about 200 lbs and is the size of the backend of a mini van! Takes up so much space! Oh and that Dyson vacuum that really does “suck” but not the way it should.
@pizzalogger
I regretted buying and immediately washing the last pair of jeans I purchased. I settled because I was in a hurry and now I hate the way they fit and are hanging in my closet indefinitely.
@luckystars54
My biggest regret was not learning how to properly take care of my skin when I was a teenager. I picked at my skin and now have a few acne scars to prove it.
My most recent purchase regret happened yesterday. I bought the AA 3D Rose Jumper without trying it on. I figured it looked so cute on the hanger and on the models, but lesson to self always try it on in store! Now I have a cute sweater that makes me look like a large puffy pink marshmallow. Not the look I was going for, but I can hold onto it until Halloween? Ha.

My regret is wearing clothes I’ve had since HIGH SCHOOL (too many years) because I feel too guilty to go out and spend. In need of a major purge of the old rags and rebuilding of a 20 something wardrobe!!
My biggest purchase regret is walking away from the most fabulous white handbag and matching wallet to only return 30 minutes later to see that it was gone. It became someone else’s fabulous accessory! And i still return to the store every week hoping that it was someone else’s purchase regret. Now that i know with American Express you have 6 months to return an item to get your money back – i guess i know where i’ll be frequenting over the next 6 months!
Next time, even if i am totally not sure i want it, i will buy it anyway….and for the record, i am still looking for a fabulous white handbag…but nothing matches up to the one i let go!
My biggest shopping regret would have to be when I purchased these fabulous but yet expensive Jeffrey Campbell shoes! I regret spending so much money but I definitely don’t regret wearing my favorite shoes all the time and getting wonderful compliments :)
Bought a gorgeous eggplant colored waltz length silk coat with a dyed rabbit collar. I look like an iris when I wear it, but I’ll keep it forever because it was so expensive. ;) Maybe I’ll give it to one of my daughters!
My biggest purchase regret is a DASH for bebe dress. I purchased it after falling in love with it online. And when it was shipped to my house and I tried it on, it just didn’t fit me very well and wasn’t the least bit flattering for my KimK booty. ;) I have tried to wear it many times, but can’t get myself to actually leave the house in it.
Biggest regret: Buying my 2008 Ford Focus. I hated that car with a passion. And I should let my love for new gadgets, IE Microsoft Sync control my money strings LOL
Hmm. There have been many “what was I thinking?” purchases, but one that specifically comes to mind are these two long, short-sleeved tops I bought that look like maternity shirts. Just below the breast area, it flows out. I bought it thinking it would look more baby doll-ish, but it’s just hideous.
At the suggestion of my brother, I bought a barebones computer case and motherboard for upgrading my computer, but never got around to doing so, so it was eventually too outdated to use. Also bought suede pants and a skirt I never wore (sigh) but may do so now I’ve lost weight!
Biggest regret purchase was buying a engagement dress 1. because it never happened and # 2 ill never wear it because of the memory it holds
My biggest purchase regret was spending hundreds of dollars on things that I wanted for the puppy I would be purchasing in a month. Needless to say that the responsibility of the puppy was a big slap of reality and I had to return the puppy within a week of getting it, because it deserved a home that could give it the time and love it deserved, and realized I threw away all of the receipts for the dog stuff I had purchased. 400 dollars down the drain… for nothing. So if anyone wants some premium dog food, toys, beds, gates, and or a cage… let me know!
i tweeted by the way and follow both! thanx! @zippy573

now the biggest regretful purchase was a class for real estate. spent $7500 put it on my credit card only to find out that i am totally not able to do any transactions due to lack of job funds…good credit only goes so far.. so i still have $5K to pay on it 2 years later..yes biggest regret. BOO
(thanx for the great contest AE and shopittome)

I regret my track-suit phase. I own 8. *did I just admit that*
My biggest shopping regret was spending my money that I had saved up for super long to buy a purse but ended up spending it on boots! I only bought them because I was in a major shoe faze and it matched my party dress! Sad thing is I payed 140 for them on sale! I couldn’t return them after I realized they didn’t go with any of my other clothes! :( lesson learnt!
A very low cut top I still have not worn
Biggest purchase regret … a slightly too small and significantly over-my-budget but totally adorable dress from Anthropologie that I’ve worn once. Every time I see it in my closet i get angry (and remind myself that I should lose 10 pounds).
I regret buying a ridiculously expensive pair of designer jeans just because I saw the name in a magazine. Next time, I’m going to buy jeans only if they fit correctly!
My biggest purchase regret had to be the L.A.M.B. high heels I bought. Don’t get me wrong, they were FABULOUS. But, they just weren’t my size. It was the last pair and I just had to have them. They were a size 6, and I am a size 5.5. Needless to say, I looked silly wearing them, and had to get rid of them. Note to self, just because you love something, it doesn’t mean it will always love you back.
My biggest purchase regret was leasing a couch and loveseat that cost 1800$ and ended being closer to 3000$ with all the interest…Actually, I am still paying it!
**Retweeted and followed both!!**
I regret buying an experience gift for my ex. He really liked to play pool so I bought him a day with a pool pro. You have a year to use it and he never did. Two hundred bucks for nothing. I would’ve bought something nice for myself!
My biggest shopping regret was buying a cheap pair of jeans that I already knew weren’t durable. I had bought a pair of jeans from Wet Seal, which is where I work, and they were destroyed jeans, especially in the knee area. After one or two days, the back beltloops ripped off, they tore in the knee and on the leg. Since I get a discount, I decided to buy another pair since they were so cheap, but not realizing that the same thing would happen to the second pair. And waddya know. It did. Even though I did not spend a lot of money, buying these jeans was definitely one of my biggest purchase regrets.
My biggest purchase regret? Buying this blood red lipstick that looked good on my friend (who has a similar skin tone/color like me). She looked flawless and I looked like a kid who ate tons of red candy.
My biggest purchase regret was this white cotton dress that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately after getting it (knowing very well white was not a color I should be wearing while out with friends drinking at college) I got make up and alcohol stains on it and now my dream dress sits in the closet too sloppy to wear. Guess next time I’ll stick with colors/black.
I own three of the same pair of new York and company sandals because I couldn’t find the other two pairs. :) whoopsie. I now know where all six sandals are!
My biggest regret…. this is a tough one, but the 10 bathing suits I bought at a boutique on the same day, when I already own like 50!!!! AND they were non refundable. Just my luck.
I need a vacation!
I am cursed with the characteristic to be a super impulsive shopper. This leads to many a times where I regret what I bring home in my shopping bags. The worse was when I bought an $80 dollar dress that was on sale (still expensive) because I thought I would eventually where it to a dance. The dress still hangs in my closest and becomes more and more outdated as the years go by. :/ awful purchase.
My biggest shopping regret…mustard yellow floor to ceiling drapes in my bedroom! I was desperate for room darkening curtains because the sun was waking me up at the crack of dawn every morning. Now, I’m stuck with the most hideous curtains ever!
Please submit an entry to your contest! I would love a shopping spree to update my spring and summer wardrob! Especially since I’m moving to Singapore in December to be with my boyfriend who has been abroad for a year. I need to look stylish when I see him!
My biggest purchase regret was a nearly $400 purple digital camera.
I regret buying these high heeled shoes. They look cute on a lot of people and I felt the need to buy them but no I regret it because I just don’t feel comfortable. I feel like I’m going to fall.
My biggest shopping regret would be not buying clothes or shoes that I could make a complete outfit with. For example buying the most fabulous shoes ever and not having one outfit I could wear it with!
my biggest purchase regret would be my desk! at the time finding affordable(college kid budget) furniture that was BLACK to go with my new color scheme was impossible. I purchase a brown desk that I was able to paint black and seal so that the paint stained well and wouldn’t peel off. I’m a handy girl, but come to find out…they had sent me the wrong piece to one of the legs. I never could finish the desk, and since I’d painted it…I couldn’t call to get the correct piece.
My biggest shopping regret was spending money on thrifted clothes, thinking I could sew them and change them up a bit. Though I don’t regularly sew, I figured that it would be pretty easy. Yeah, not really. After I tried fixing them up they looked awful. I’ve learned that I need to save money on something that actually FITS, and if it doesn’t, don’t get it, unless it can be tailored.
My biggest regret is buying cheap jeans. I bought a pair because they are only $9.00 and they fit SO well! But the zipper broke soon after. Now I need to start buying nicer jeans so they wont break/get worn so easily!
The most regretable purchase I (almost) made was the purchase of 2 2011 coachella tickets off of craiglist. I found out that the person was a scrammer right before I bought a money gram to pay for them. Haha! Almost $600 down the drain. Thank goodness for googles wealth of knowledge about scanners.
I regret not buying a more souvenirs when I travel.
My biggest regret was buying these super cute shoes @ Saks… I just had to have them. Of course when I wore them the first time, I wobbled on the heel and ended up breaking my ankle! I have never worn them again…They just sit in my closet! :(
my BIGGEST FASHION BUY REGRET would have to be an ICEBERG jacket back in 99…HORRID

i once bought lounge pants for my husband.. you know how some people dont know they for wearing around the house and NOT for public ?!?!
uh huh.. BIG MISTAKE!!!
ooo I’d love an extra entry! My biggest purchase regret was this blue sweatshirt that I bought from H&M – I threw it on over a white dress one night to ride my bike in the rain and it bled through!!! and THEN it turned a whole load of laundry blue. And I still have blue things. and I have to wash them all separately!
I regret a lot of “bargains” I buy because their a really good deal, then never wear them. I’ve done this way too many times.
My biggest regret was buying my house. It was about 7-8 months before the housing crisis. What I thought was a very good deal turned out not as much as what I owed is much more than the cost of the house now.
My biggest regret would have to be the time I was in a hurry and bought a very expensive pair of pants that were two sizes to big and the store wouldn’t let me return them.
@MollyyJohnsonn
My biggest regret was buying the wrong laptop because I was in a hurry and it was really like a tin can. It was a great price but I should have waited and got what I really wanted.
@MissingLynxx
My Biggest Purchase regret was our Dodge Durango (enough said right lol) We’ve Had nothing but problems with it, having to make repairs constantly since we bought it.
@JK8675309
My biggest regret was spending hundreds of dollars from watching something in an infomercial. Insomnia + Watching Informericals = Buying Regretful Purchases such as Magic Bullet, Ninja, etc. dont make me list it all :-)
I bought an $850 pair of Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo suede red pumps for my wedding in June and then realized that I needed the money. It took me forever to sell them and I’d never even worn them! I ended up only getting $500 for them.. I seriously regret that!
