5 Can't-Miss Spring Trends from Chief Stylist, Annie Ladino
Out with the old, and in with the new and bold! Here are are the can’t-miss trends to keep your eye on this spring–chic spins on classic styles, dramatic new ways to wear prints, and more. If I had to put my finger on five can’t-miss trends you’ll want to scoop up, here they are:
- At the Spring 2013 collections, we saw girly ruffles get glam. So, take a break from menswear-inspired pieces, and go for some feminine oversized ruffles. Try a skirt with a thigh-high slit or low-neck dress to up the sex appeal. If you try a heavily-ruffled skirt, opt for something more fitted on top
- Also for Spring 2013, designers reinterpreted the classic kimono in flattering waist-cinching silhouettes
- A pagoda sleeve is a chic way to incorporate this trend into your closet
- Try an embroidered top with an Eastern-influenced dragon motif, or origami-embroidered details
- Get ready for a new take on the animal prints we’ve seen for many seasons
- Expect python in colors ranging from sweet pastels to punchy neons
- Dip your toe in the water by incorporating this print via a patchwork-printed skirt, or be bold by donning it head-to-toe on a printed dress
- On runways from Altuzzara to Saint Laurent Paris, we saw designers fall in love with this darkly romantic look
- This trend is a great way to update your evening look for Spring 2013
- Fringed pieces and tapestry inspired fabrics are a great way to try this look for night
- Sweeping skirts and lots of black up the drama factor
- If you’re all about showing your stripes–this season they are going to go from classic and preppy to punchy and ultra-chic
- You’ll see stripes take shape in sweet hues like pastel pink
- Try mixing two different sizes of black-and-white stripes
- Try vertical stripes for a flattering lengthening effect
I know that I’ll personally be adding each of these to my Shop It To Me Threads so I can get regular updates when they go on sale, and encourage you to do the same!
