A couple weeks back I attended San Francisco’s annual Treasure Island Music Festival. The music was great, the weather was gorgeous, but my favorite part was the fashion (surprise, surprise). SF stylistas put on their funkiest gettups and headed across the bay for an afternoon of singing, dancing, and dress-up.

From the guy in faux fur, to the gal in a pink vintage Gucci sweatshirt (accompanied by a matching Gucci fanny pack, of course), the event brought in the best of San Francisco street style! It was like being trapped in a Nylon Magazine spread – and let me just say, I can imagine worse places to spend a day…

Seeing the incredible collections almost makes me want to skip Fall altogether to start sporting these Spring 2010 styles! I simply can’t get enough of Karen Walker, ADAM, and Richard Chai. Any favorites so far? Please share!

Calling all San Francisco fashionistas!
The Legendary Barney’s New York Warehouse Sale is coming to San Francisco for the first time ever! It starts tomorrow (Thursday, July 30th) and will go through August 9th. The madness excitement will be going down at the Fort Mason Center Herbst Pavillion for a glorious 11 days.

New York and L.A., no need to fret – Barney’s did not forget you! Here’s your valuable info:
- New York – 255 West 17th Street (August 20th – September 7th)

Squeals of delight were heard all around the Shop It To Me office when it was announced: we’ve added theOutnet.com to Salemail!
Those of you who are familiar with theOutnet can join in our glee. They have the most amazing selection of brands (think 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs, Primp, Alice+Olivia, and tons more), all at crazy sale prices. And something about the way they photograph their clothing – cleanly laid out on a stark white background – makes each piece look so appealing.
For the uninitiated, here are a few of their items from today’s Salemail:

1. Primp frog print tank, Reg: $70, Now: $21
2. 7 for All Mankind bootcut stretch jeans, Reg: $155, Now: $78
3. T-Bags embellished t-shirt dress, Reg: $245, Now: $122
4. Temperley London tiered mini dress, Reg: $1,255, Now: $502
5. Marc by Marc Jacobs logo-print bikini, Reg: $158, Now: $79
6. Jovovich-Hawk Veronica dot dress, Reg: $325, Now: $98
No action needed in order to add theOutnet to your Salemail. As long as you’ve selected brands they carry, the retailer’s items will appear as soon as they go on sale in your size!

Here at Shop It To Me, we like to tell ourselves we know a thing or two about fashion. At last, we have evidence to back it up. Shop It To Me’s very own Laura Ellner was nominated as 7X7 Magazine’s Most Stylish San Franciscan!
We’re certainly not surprised – not only do we fancy her the city’s most fashionable, she’s also the most stylish person we know!
So show Shop It To Me and Laura some love and vote #42 here!

I had been meaning to check out the YSL exhibit at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park since it came out in November. Sunday morning, when I Googled the exhibit I got just the push that I needed, learning that it was the VERY LAST DAY!

The exhibit was breathtaking and a beautiful tribute to the life of the designer, who died in June of 2008. Yves Saint Laurent is known for his synthesis of masculinity and femininity in fashion, pushing the limits with women’s suits and tuxedos. Some stand-out pieces from the costumey collection included: racy and lacy open-sided gown, feathered cape, cocoon-style wedding dress, and go-go frocks (inspired by the designers favorite paintings). The original sketches that accompanied many of the designs were fascinating— icing on top of the cake!

There were videos from previous runway shows playing throughout the dimly-lit display room, and information boards filled with interesting tidbits led the way. For instance, did you know that YSL began his fashion career working for the Christian Dior when he was just a teenager?! The man is truly a legend, and I cannot imagine a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Next stop…Valentino: The Last Emperor, a documentary on the life of another fashion legend, Valentino Garavani, which I plan to see on Wednesday. Unfortunately the movie is only in select cities, so in case you can’t make it, I will be sure to provide my best description later this week. Stay tuned!
