I had to block the first day of shows to do fittings for my friend Joy Cioci’s show.
It’s Joy’s second season showing at the tents. She used to be the Creative Director of Wink and we met at a Bismarck Phillips PR dinner many years ago. When she started her own collection she asked me to style the show and we’ve been working closely since. Her bio is on her site http://www.joycioci.com/about.html
This season I’m blown away by the vibrant hues in her collection. I have a strong penchant for lace and embroidery and that is a strong theme throughout. We have very different aesthetics but work great together because we respect one another’s point of view. My goal is to follow Joy’s direction and stay within her style when picking accessories.
This year we got two of my favorite lines to sponsor Joy’s accessories. Shoes were provide by Pour la Victoire and Kelsi Dagger. We added lucite jewelry from Ben-Amun.
Throughout the day three pairs of heels broke so my intern Via went on the hunt for a shoe repair who could fix the shoes by the end of the day.
Meanwhile, Cara Waltrip the Sales Director of the line helped me find alternates. I value Cara’s opinion and have tremendous respect for her taste. I always find myself asking her opinion before I make a purchase.
By 6:00 pm I was rushing out the door to meet my good friend Jared Eng from Justjared.com for #FNO. We had a list of must hit stops so we mapped out the night to start downtown and end uptown.
First stop was Tory Burch in the meatpacking district. Here we met Tory but couldn’t find her publicist Esther Song. Tory was genuine and down to earth. Her kids were running around and there was a great food truck out front.
We didn’t have time to mingle—and within 20 minutes were en route to the train.
It took us three trains to get to Dolce & Gabbana on Madison Avenue where Justin Bieber was the surprise guest. I knew he’d be on hand but was sworn to secrecy. The special guest I was there to see was my good friend Brooklyn Decker.
The crowd of screaming tweens and bad cell reception made it impossible for me and Jared to find Brooklyn on the 3rd floor. So we decided to walk a block to Lanvin.
The hosts at Lanvin was my former boss, Joe Zee, Creative Director of Elle, Iman and Dwyane Wade. There was a dance challenge happening, where couples mimicked the choreography seen in the brand’s “Hiver 2011” ad campaign video. Since Joe was busy on stage, I had fun hanging with my best friend Sarah Schussheim, who now works with Joe.
Since Sarah and I both were exhausted from the shows we worked on today – we decided to call it an early night and head to the train station by Barneys. We made quick stops in the Tory Burch flagship, where we finally found Esther, and then at Calvin Klein where I was tempted to get an I LoVE Lara t-shirt but was dragged out before I could.
After a long day of walking in my always comfortable Valentino kitten heels—I collapsed at home and put my feet up. Joy’s show 6:00 pm at Lincoln Center, but I am still missing a couple pairs of shoes and need to finish some looks. After Joy’s show—I’ll have a couple of others to see and a few parties to visit before calling it a night.

Nothing that says glamour like couture! Below are our favorite looks from the latest collections by some of the world’s most well-known and respected fashion houses:
Karl Lagerfeld designed classic tweed jackets, bow-embellished cocktail dresses, and sheer gowns for the Chanel Spring 2011 couture collection. Each season brings something better than the last, while staying true to the label’s timeless nature.
Splashes of color, dramatic dresses, and gorgeous head pieces had us swooning! Christian Dior’s wild Spring 2011 Couture collection may not be for everyone, but we certainly love what we’re seeing.
We were literally breath-taken upon viewing the photos from the Givenchy Spring 2o11 Couture presentation. All we can say about the collection is that the gowns are fashion artistry at its finest!

The Jean Paul Gaultier collection showed clever design & tailoring with an expected but fun rocker vibe. Perfect for any mohawk-wearing punk rock princess!

Fall is just beginning, and we’re already anxiously awaiting next spring’s trends; sleek lines, good cuts, fabulous colors, and all with a feel of sophistication and glamour. There’s also a bit of a 70’s disco vibe going on that we can see ourselves embracing for our girls’ nights out…
A few of our favorite looks from the runway:
In New York:
It has to be Tory Burch – we loved her funky spin on classic design, using bright oranges, light pinks, and mustards!
Giles – fun and edgy looks, loads of great dresses, and we couldn’t get over the glitter… a girl can never have too much!
The show that kick started the week, Gucci… great style and those jewel colors had us swooning!
We couldn’t get enough of Christian Dior’s sailor girl theme – beachy frocks, fun hats, and to die for jackets!
We’re checking our Salemail now to see if we can scoop up any bargains with a S/S 2011 vibe.

After London’s pretty prints, Milan was a refreshing wash of neutral shades and sophisticated cuts. Common colors included silver, mink, champagne, griege, and white. Designers from Bottega Veneta to Albino wowed us with how beautiful the neutral palette can be.
Hemlines were longer than London and while there were a lot of structured pieces and suits, we also loved the floatier cuts from the likes of Roberto Cavalli. Even the bolder shows such as Gucci and Prada used jewel colors rather than super bright.
What did we love?

Our fabulous friends in the UK are here to give us the inside scoop on London Fashion Week! Read below to find out hot new trends you can expect to see next spring, and some other fun updates for our UK subscribers.
Ah, London Fashion Week is over for another season and how we wish it were Spring right now. The riot of pretty dresses featuring gorgeous prints and patterns in beautiful jeweled colours has made us long for the next season to be here already! Our favourites were the delicate florals at Erdem, polka dots at Giles, the bold colours and layers at Issa and the fresh, clean look at Jonathan Saunders.
We’re also super excited about up and coming designers Michael van der Ham, Holly Fulton, and Mary Katrantzou, and will be adding them to Shop It To Me shortly — stay tuned!
And finally we can’t forget all the totally fabulous fashion moments from this season’s shows…. The David Bowie hair at Marios Schwab, Kelly Brook and Stella Tennant on the catwalk at Giles, the paint in hair effect at Alexander Wang and Atuzarra, Aggy’s new shaved look, glitter everywhere and not forgetting the Cowboy and Indian theme at Ashish.

Well done London, you didn’t let us down!

During New York Fashion Week, I was able to attend the Tory Burch S/S 2011 presentation, and I must say it was one of my favorites!! Each design was eye-catching, and I couldn’t get enough of the color palette she chose — nudes, navys, and mustards, with exciting bursts of coral or metallic.
It was refreshing to see happy models who were chatting and laughing together – a welcome change from the stone cold statues at some of the other presentations!
This dress on the right was my favorite piece out of the collection — there is something so fun and unexpected about the baby pink and coral combo.
The sky-high heels were to die for! How great are those blue straw platforms in the center? In addition to navy, they’ll also come in beige.
Who would have thought a poncho could look so chic?! It’s like the perfect cozy cover-up for a cool spring night.
Tory Burch’s designs are so classic – she has a way of creating these young, fresh looks that are actually appropriate for women of any age!

New York Fashion Week has come to a close, but this doesn’t mean we’re done dishing about the breathtaking designs we saw! Earlier this week I had the pleasure of attending the Monique Lhuillier S/S 2011 show, and was completely wowed by the gowns she’s created for next season.
Monique played with nude tones and bright reds, ruffles, sequins, and florals — every piece came together to create a collection that oozes sophistication, femininity, and glamour.
Guessing we’ll see no shortage of A-list celebs sporting Monique Lhuillier at upcoming award shows (especially since Brad Goreski – Rachel Zoe’s trusty assistant – was front row center keeping a watchful eye!). Do these looks not scream red carpet-ready?!

Today’s line up for Katrina Szish included an incredible VIP experience — a fitting for a a dress straight from the runway, which she gets to wear on the Early Show on Friday.
To kick the day off, Katrina attended shows by Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Gottex, and Milly.
She chose to wear a Michael Kors dress, found through Shop It To Me, for 70%-off (pretty amazing, right?!).

Katrina said, “PJ’s Christian Louboutin shoes…LOVE”
Ok, enough about outfits…it’s Showtime!
