Must Haves: Summer Stars And Stripes

Earn your stripes this July with star spangled inspired prints! Our Chief Stylist, Annie Ladino, says, “Show your spirit pairing pieces in red, white, and blue, but don’t get too carried away, or you’ll end up looking like a walking American flag.”

Missoni striped woven sunhat: was $580, now $278.40
Betsey Johnson green star earrings: were $30, now $21
Marc by Marc Jacobs stripe bangle: was $58, now $37
Madewell ticker-stripe tee: was $45, now $30
See by Chloe star print dress: was $525, now $184
Jimmy Choo lace up sneakers: were $695, now $556
Miu Miu leather shoulder bag: was $1350, now $756
Try these pieces and you’ll be sure to make style fireworks!
Wondering what you should pair your stars and stripes with? Annie recommends styling patriotic prints with denim shorts, wide leg trousers, espadrilles, a white crochet dress, a straw hat or a canvas tote.

Style For Your Zodiac Sign: Cancer
Our new Chief Stylist is a budding astrologer, so we asked her to fashion a series of posts for us on each Zodiac sign. We’ve just entered into Cancer, so here’s Annie Ladino’s style forecast for all of you moon children.

“This sign loves to wear clothing that is traditional yet feminine and conservative. They love ruffles, romance, and pastels.”
“Cancer’s symbol is the Crab, their birthstone is Pearl and their metal is Silver. Every Cancer should own a pair of pearls. Splash on some sparkle with one of my picks below.”

Marc Jacobs draped halter top: was $995, now $398
Kate Spade pearl drop earrings: were $65, now $42
Stella McCartney shopping tote: was $1435, now $1004
“Cancer colors mirror those of the seashell and moonlight — including silvery whites, palest, almost white-grays, light smoky blues and luminous silvery tea greens. Cancers are an ultra feminine sign, so styles that reflect that, such as a sweetheart-cut dress, are crucial. And while most Cancers stick to soft ladylike looks, they will occasionally take a walk on the wild side with funky accessories or a stand-out pair of shoes.”

See by Chloe silk dress: was $595, now $357
Dannijo crystal necklace: was $545, now $272.50
Miu Miu platform pump: was $630, now $249
“Fabrics that are highly feminine, soft and those with a subtle luminosity (think silk taffeta, raw silk, satin, silk charmeuse, polished yet thin pima cotton, and silky rayon) appeal to the Cancer. Their body parts are the bosom and the stomach. It is important to accentuate these with v-neck tops and ruffles.”

Rag & Bone cami: was $150, now $75
Marc Jacobs ruffled dress: was $895, now $358
A few fashionable celebs who share the Cancer sign are Selma Blair, Selena Gomez, Liv Tyler, Meryl Streep and Diane Kruger.

Famous Cancers in fashion include American model and designer Lauren Bush, Brazilian model Caroline Trentini, designers Bill Blass, Oscar de La Renta, Giorgio Armani, Vera Wang, Elie Saab and French couturier Pierre Cardin.
“Your birth sign endows your sense of self expression. Cancer or not, there is no denying this sign is cosmically chic. Tell me moon children, how will you be dressing this summer?”

Annie Ladino’s Trends To Try
Summer is here, and with it comes a fresh batch of seasonal trends! Annie Ladino, Shop It To Me’s Chief Stylist, is here to dish on the hottest hot-weather styles we’re totally melting over: geometric, color block and surf neon.
GEOMETRIC
I love the geometric aesthetic because it delivers a bold statement. With its mix of lines and shapes, geometric-inspired pieces create a modish look that is interesting to look at and visually appealing.
Shop the Trend
Marc by Marc Jacobs printed jumpsuit, Diane von Furstenberg embellished top, Diane von Furstenberg Margee jacket, Alice + Olivia cotton poncho, Missoni sarong skirt
COLOR BLOCK
Color blocking is great for the summer season because it combines bright, vivid colors to create a look that transcends a chic yet playful style.
Shop the Trend
Diane von Furstenberg silk dress, Fendi multi-color sandal, M Missoni jersey hobo bag, Isabel Marant Miguel linen sweater, Proenza Schouler stretch pencil skirt
SURF NEON
Surf neon is another hot trend this season because it delivers an athletic and modern, yet sleek silhouette with a carefree attitude. In general, summer is all about being fun and flirty while keeping it cool and chic.
Shop the Trend
Rag & Bone Tribeca printed silk dress, Hunter original rubber tote, Alexander Wang Pebbled crepe shorts, Diane von Furstengerg cuff sandal, Marc by Marc Jacobs silicone bracelet watch

Annie Ladino and Friends Toast Her Collaboration with Shop It To Me
Last night we were out in NYC hosting an intimate toast for our new Chief Stylist Annie Ladino. A fantastic and fashionable crowd turned out to support the amazing Annie. Beautiful Brooklyn Decker had big smiles and this YSL stunner as a gift for her fave stylist. The two dished about Margiela ankle boots they’d both just snapped up via Salemail.
Also atop the Sundeck at 60 Thompson were Man Repeller Leandra Medine, Interview magazine’s Dan Ragone, astrologer Susan Miller, fashion journalist Jim Shi, social media maven Rachel Sklar, jewelry designer Jamie Wolf, fashion designer Joy Cioci and other of Annie’s close friends/admirers with whom she’s worked over the years.
The gathering was the perfect kickoff for our ongoing collaboration with Annie. Annie will be curating styles and providing trend guidance within Shop It To Me emails, and giving members a behind the scenes look into her fashionable world. See more on the collaboration here.

Get To Know Annie Ladino: Up Close & Personal
Want to know more about Annie? We hope you enjoy our first Q&A:
Why are you excited about being Shop It To Me’s Stylist In Residence?
I’m excited to be working with Shop It To Me because it’s a site I’ve been totally hooked on for the past year. I love it for the great bargains but also because I found items I had coveted in past seasons that I thought were long gone and then I had a second chance to own them.
I’m also really excited to create content for the blog. I find inspiration everywhere and I realized that when I’m working with a client we’re usually bouncing ideas off each other until we come up with the final look. I think this process is still a mystery to anyone not in the industry and it will be fun to give aspiring fashionista’s a peek into the industry…. and show them how to dress the part.
What’s in your Salemail?
A few brands you’ll find in my Salemail are Alaia, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Prada/Miu Miu, Proenza Schouler, Isabel Marant, Helmut Lang, Erdem, Iro, J.Crew, Camilla Skovgaard and Sigerson Morrison
What are your current obsessions?
I’m currently obsessed with a pink, orange, and black striped dress from Prada Spring 2011, Jil Sander’s paperbag floral skirt, color block from Versus, Surf/Sportswear inspired trends, Animal prints and lace.
What’s the best bargain you’ve ever scored?
My first year as an assistant at a magazine I bought an H&M $35 pleather jacket I just about wore with everything and pretty much every day until it fell apart. Recently I upgraded to a Balenciaga one. This one doesn’t come off either. They both do the trick. It’s not about how MUCH something costs, it’s about the quality and the significance it has to the person.
How would you describe your personal style?
French Bohemian. Modern, sophisticated but never rigid or forced. I like to feel comfortable and am a hippie at heart but definitely like a heel and a tight chic dress.
What’s your secret to creating a signature look?
Try something unexpected and wear it with confidence. If you like it, it will show. I once read somewhere that Kate Moss said if everyone is dressed up, dress down and if everyone is dressed down, dress up. Basically try the unexpected. Go with your gut. Don’t wear a trend for the sake of wearing it. Wear it because you like it and want to express yourself.
On what do you splurge?
Shoes
On what do you save?
Handbags (I’ve never heard a guy say – “that’s a hot purse!” I have however on many occasions heard, “those are some sexy heels.”)

New York-based Stylist and Fashion Editor Annie Ladino is our new Chief Stylist
Shop It To Me is thrilled to introduce Annie Ladino as our new Chief Stylist! We discovered Annie when she helped Gwyneth Paltrow with this spring fashion post in GOOP. We loved how she made runway trends accessible and instantly became curious to learn more about this exciting fresh talent.
So who’s Annie?
Annie is a rising star stylist, fashion editor, contributor to Elle, French film fanatic, yoga practitioner and amateur astrologer. She has worked for Joe Zee, Creative Director for Elle, and helped dress celebrities for more than 30 cover shoots.
When we first sat down with her, we were delighted to learn that this talented fashionista loves sales as much as we do. Annie quickly began using Shop It To Me to snag items for herself and her celeb clients. (In addition to Gwyneth, her roster includes Julia Roberts, Brooklyn Decker, Erin Andrews, Becki Newton and Alexis Bledel.) Her favorite find so far is a Proenza bandage skirt from Yoox.com on sale for $250.
Since she’s a sharer, Annie was spreading the Shop It To Me within her stylish circle. We knew the stars were aligned (and not just because our girl is an aspiring astrologer).
So, get ready to fall in love with Annie’s delightful down-to-earth attitude and cool signature style. She’ll take us behind the scenes of her fashionable life, curate Deal of the Day picks and contribute to our blog. Annie will share styling advice, tips on managing a busy lifestyle, and insider scoop about what it’s like to dress some of today’s headline-making hotties.
Stay tuned for more from Annie in the weeks ahead! To see the full press release about the collaboration click here.
